Bill Hill Barn
Project Details
Timber Frame
1,400 square feet
Expected Completion: 2026
Lyme, Connecticut
Situated on farmland, adjacent to an 1850 farmhouse, the goal of this timber frame is to make it look and feel as though it's been here as long as the house, while also featuring modern amenities. Built from white pine and white oak timbers, once completed, it will sit upon a stone foundation, with vertical shiplap siding, live edge roofing boards, glass garage doors, expansive windows and a standing seam metal roof. The barn will serve as a workshop, potting shed, hangout area, and lofted storage space. It will be fully insulated and heated by radiant hot water in the concrete slab floor. Once completed, this barn will pay homage to the hand built, rustic qualities of the neighboring house and neighborhood, while also serving as a modern, comfortable barn.
